Frequently Asked Questions
New to strength training or getting back into a routine? Here's what to know about getting started at Spurling.
Getting started
Do I need to be in shape before I start?
No. Whether you're brand new to exercise or returning after years away, we start where you are today. Your coach will guide you through each movement and adjust the workout to your ability. You don't need gym experience or a routine already figured out to take the first step.
Is Spurling a good fit for adults over 50?
Helping adults over 50 build strength, move better, and feel more confident is our specialty. If you want support staying active for everyday life, a coach who knows your goals, and a welcoming community, Spurling could be a great fit. An introductory conversation is a chance to see for yourself.
What happens at my first visit?
We begin with an introductory meeting to learn about your goals, exercise experience, and any challenges you want us to understand. You'll meet a coach, get to know the space, and talk through a training plan that fits your starting point and schedule. It's also your time to ask questions.
How much does personal training cost?
Your membership depends on the type of coaching and how often you train. Request Schedule & Pricing to connect with our team about the options at your preferred location. We'll help you compare programs and explain the cost before you decide to get started.
What training is like
How is Spurling different from a traditional gym?
You have a coach guiding every session and a workout planned for you. We help with exercise technique, adjust movements to your needs, and track your progress. The coaching, accountability, and community give you support from your first session onward.
How does small group training work? Will I need to keep up?
Sessions have six or fewer clients, so your coach can give you individual attention. You work at your own pace, with exercises and weights adjusted for you. The group brings encouragement and connection; you don't have to match someone else's fitness level.
Can the workouts be adapted to my needs?
Yes. Getting to know your abilities, exercise history, and goals is part of our coaching process. Your coach can adjust exercises and the level of challenge. Tell us about any injuries or movement limitations during your introductory meeting so we can discuss what support is appropriate for you.
Do you offer one-on-one personal training?
Yes. Private one-on-one training gives you your coach's undivided attention and a plan tailored to your goals. If you're unsure whether private or small group training is the better fit, we'll help you explore both options during your introductory conversation.
Making it work for you
How often should I train, and will it fit my schedule?
We'll help you choose a training frequency based on your goals and the time you can consistently set aside. Session times vary by location. Request Schedule & Pricing to explore the options and find a routine that works with your week.
Can you help with nutrition, too?
Yes. We offer practical, habit-based nutrition guidance alongside training. Our coaches help you work on consistency and everyday food habits that fit your lifestyle and goals. Ask us how nutrition coaching can support your training when we talk.
Can I try Spurling before deciding if it's right for me?
Yes. We offer a risk-free first 28 days so you can experience the coaching, workouts, and community. Your coach will walk you through the program and guarantee details before you begin.
What's the easiest way to get started?
Select Talk to a Trainer and tell us a little about yourself and your preferred location. A member of our team will follow up to answer your questions and arrange an introductory meeting. We'll help you work out the next step together.
