It's Over...

The final weekday of 2016…

This week’s theme has been getting ready for 2017 as we all set goals for the New Year.

Today I wanted to piggyback off of Kim’s post on Wednesday about “good enough.”

I constantly remind myself to think back just 5 years ago I was living in a craigslist basement, single, had $4 in my checking account, and was about to embark on being an “entrepreneur.”

Whatever that meant…

Today, I have a booming gym business, 5 great employees, hundreds of loyal clients, real estate investments, consulting gigs, and a happy wife (Most of the time. You know what I’m talking about, guys) that puts up with all of it

Needless to say, if I projected out 5 years ago back in 2011, I wouldn’t think I would be where I am today.

However, due to my stubborn personality, I always want more.

But, I’m constantly reminding myself, when is enough, enough?

As you reflect on your fitness and nutrition journey, and even life, I’ve come to realize a few things…

If you don’t know what truly makes you happy, it will never be enough.

10lbs will then become 20lbs.

2 pant sizes will then become 4 pant sizes.

The needle may constantly be moving forward, 1% better, and I’m all for wanting to better yourself…

But enjoy the process.

Be in the moment.

Don’t overlook all the wonderful things about you now.

Embrace what you already have and what you’ve already accomplished.

Be proud of who you are and what you’ve become.

So…

As you head into 2017 definitely set some goals.

Inevitably, a lot of them will be more things.

More money…

More fat loss…

More progress. …

More “stuff”…

And I’m all for that.

Set those ambitious goals.

However, don’t forget to embrace what you already have.

You’ve already accomplished so much.

You’ve already come so far.

More may not always be the answer.

It may just be redefining what happy actually is.

1% better, right?

Dedicated to Your Success,

Doug Spurling
