I'm back after a fun-filled weekend up north and wanted to talk about a word that we all need more of in our life.
If you can master this word, not only will you get great results, but you'll live a much happier life.
It's interesting, very rarely do I focus on running this business like a gym.
Even though we're considered a gym, you'll quite often hear from me, and more importantly, the clients, that "we're more than just a gym."
I always tell people we're in the customer service business, we just happen to deliver it through fitness.
Our facility is a hang out spot, a place to get away from life stressors, it just happens to be a gym.
My ultimate goal is for every client to think of Spurling as their third place.
You have the home, which I really can't compete with.
You have work, which is hopefully easy to beat :)
And then you have your third place, your happy place.
Why is this so important to you?
I've said it before but I think success in life, and in fitness comes down to the 3 C's:
Coaching: You need help from people who are experts in that area. They will give you results quicker because they've been there.
Consistency: You must show up, everyday 1 % better.
Community: You need a group of people around you that lift you up, are there during the tough times, and push you further ahead than you would ever do on your own.
The word I'm focusing on is the community.
The people we see with the best results have a great community in every aspect of their life.
They have a family that supports them through all the changes.
They listen to the coaches, do what the coaches ask of them, and ask a ton of questions at the gym.
And most importantly, they have built a community of people in the gym and outside of it that hold them accountable, raise the bar for them, and keep them going when that's the last thing they want to do.
A strong community can change the game.
So my challenge to you...
Start building your community.
Is your family supportive of the fitness and nutrition changes you're trying to make? It starts from there.
Is your work supportive? Do you have a stress-free work environment? Do they allow you to leave on time so you can make it to the gym? All of this places a role.
At the gym, do you have a group of people who are counting on you? A group of people who hold you accountable? A group of people to celebrate with?
Hopefully for all of those at Spurling, you're nodding your head yes. If not, let us change that. See me, talk to one of the coaches, try a Team Training session, do something to take action.
If you're not at Spurling, that's ok too, just make sure wherever you are you have a strong community.
Go out and start building your community, it will change your life.
Dedicated to Your Success,
Doug Spurling
PS ~ A community does not just build itself. Here at Spurling, we try every day to strengthen our community. All of our workouts are done with a coach, that way you can build that relationship. We also offer Team Training Sessions, which is groups of 5-15 people working out together so you can nurture those relationships. Plus, once a month we offer a Charity Group Workout. This is the ultimate community builder. We get to help out a local charity important to us, and you get to meet a bunch of really cool people. We do one on the last Saturday of every month, and THIS SATURDAY is our July Charity Workout. We're hosting this one to benefit Maine Cancer Foundation. If you can make it we'd love to have you. We're asking for a $5 donation. It's open to the public so bring your friends and family and join us for a great cause. You can get more info and RSVP here ---> MCF Charity Workout
