When it comes to fat loss you really need two things...
Inefficiency & Deficit
If you have both of those you'll be just fine dropping pant sizes left and right.
But...without them you're toast!
Everyone tends to get caught up in the little nuances of fitness and nutrition. They spend more time reading articles off Google instead of just getting off their butt and moving!
Just like anything in life, that creates analysis paralysis.
Imagine if you calculated to the penny how much you need to save to have a healthy retirement stash...
Great! But now you actually have to deposit that money each month.
It's not fancy, but it's the truth.
Stop looking for the shiny objects and just focus on two things...
Inefficiency & Deficit
When it comes to the exercise side of things, pick something each day that you're inefficient at.
Something you suck at.
Why?
When you're not good at something, your body will have to expel a lot more energy, thus burn a lot more calories.
If you're efficient at running, try going for a swim, or run hills.
If you're efficient at the elliptical, try pushing a sled, or slamming some medicine balls.
If you're efficient at walking, try going for a hike, or hoping on a bike! (I didn't intend for that to rhyme, but it sounds cool)
So, you get the point. For fitness related activities, we could argue to cows come home which "method" is better, but the point is to do something consistently that creates inefficiencies.
With nutrition, it's about creating a deficit.
Although easier said than done, and there's a lot of behavioral pieces to it (habits), it's about creating a deficit.
Don't consume more than what you burn.
If you live each day in a slight deficit you'll see the pant sizes drop.
So, again, we could get caught up in carbs are bad for you debates, gluten-free this, organic that, but in reality, you just need to not eat as much!
Now of course 1500 calories of donuts may not be as good for your heart as 1500 calories of protein and vegetables, but at the end of the day, it's about creating that deficit.
Now, stop reading this and go take some action!
Have a great weekend :)
Stay cool!
