Pick The Lowest Hanging Fruit...

Most days, if you're like me, you wake up and you realize the amount of stuff that needs to get done is quite overwhelming.

Yet, each day, the work gets done, the sun sets, and I get to see my wife at night :)

However, I totally get the feeling of wanting to tackle everything at once and get it done.

I talked earlier in the week about the infinity circle and it's relationship to our journey for a better self (fitness, nutrition, sleep, stress, etc).

It can be frustrating to realize it's a never ending circle.

But go back to your daily tasks.

How do you get them done?

You start with one, chip it off, then go on to the next.

Rinse and repeat.

The good ole' saying...

"How do you eat an elephant?"

One bite at a time, right?

As you look to improve your fitness and nutrition it's important not to get overwhelmed with everything that you could do.

Get more protein.

Get more vegetables.

Get more sleep.

Eat fewer sweets.

Drink less alcohol.

Life heavier.

Get to the gym more.

The list can go on and on.

As you know, that's quite overwhelming.

What we find works best for clients, is to pick the "lowest hanging fruit."

Meaning, the ONE THING, that you think you can do successfully the easiest.

Pick one thing and just crush it.

That's all you focus on.

So...

If you're lowest hanging fruit is you're not sleeping at least 6 hours per night, all you focus on right now is getting 6+ hours of sleep at night.

Everything you do is to work towards that goal.

Then...

Once it becomes a habit.

Usually after 14-28 days of doing it consistently...

You pick the next lowest hanging fruit.

It's called stacking wins.

Rather than trying to tackle everything at once and getting overwhelmed...

You choose one thing.

Crush it, make it a habit, and move onto the next thing.

Then, as you look back after 6 months, you realized you've changed 6 behavioral habits that will not only have a huge impact on your results, but they'll last.

This is the true definition of 1% better.

What's your lowest hanging fruit?
