I'm Terrible at This...

Have you heard this story...

Two brothers wake up on Christmas morning and head downstairs...

Their parents tell them they each have a room of presents, so one boy goes into one room, and the other boy heads down the hall to other room.

The parents go and get a cup of coffee.

As they're pouring their coffee they hear jumping for joy!

The head down to the first boy and his room is filled with toys, wall to wall.

But they look over and the boy is pouting against the wall.

"What about this toy!"

"I wanted this one instead!"

Weird, they thought the jumping and joy would have been coming from him!

So, they head down the hall to the other room.

As they're walking they continue to hear screams of excitement.

They turn the corner into the other boys' room and he's jumping up and down!

"mom, mommy, mom!"

It's a room piled high with nothing by horse manure.

"What son?"

"Mom, with all this poop, there must be a pony around here somewhere!"

So...

Moral of the story...

Are you the type of person who looks at the glass half full?

Do you appreciate what you have and work with it?

Are you the type of person that celebrates where you're at instead of always wanting more?

I have to admit, I'm terrible at this and continue to work at it.

I always want more, and I find myself never actually enjoying the moment.

We see a lot of it with our clients....

They are upset they didn't see any inches drop this month, but they forget that the six months before that they dropped 5 pant sizes!

It can be challenging, but as much time as you spend trying to get better, trying to improve yourself when you're feeling down, spend equally as much time thinking about all that you've accomplished.

Focusing on the negatives, the what ifs, only cause a downward spiral to move faster.

Turn the frown upside down and look at all the great things you've been able to accomplish :)

I'll be right there with you practicing this...it's a challenge for me too.

Enjoy the weekend, and I'll be back on Monday with another great one!

Dedicated to Your Success,

Doug Spurling
