It Doesn't Always Go As Planned...

A tough morning for most of you, I'm sure.

The Patriots lost in the Super Bowl last night.

It was a great game, and even though I'm a huge Patriots fan, the Eagles played their hearts out and earned the win.

So, just like anything, I try to find a lesson, and I think the lesson from last night for all of us is...

It doesn't always go as planned.

The Patriots had a goal, to win the Super Bowl, they trained, prepared, and ultimately came up short.

In life, and in fitness, it doesn't always go as planned.

You may train hard, change your nutrition, and it still may not go as planned.

That leads to stress and frustration.

But just like the Patriots, it's important to analyze what went wrong, see how you need to adjust, and then move on.

Come up with a new game plan and take action.

Imagine if all the Patriot's just hung up their cleats after losing and never showed up again.

That's what happens when we get so frustrated with not hitting a fitness goal.

We give up, stop taking action, and say "screw it!"

It's important to remember that not only will things not go as planned, but success is never a straight line.

I always remind people on day one that this is a journey, and the journey is never a straight line.

It's not filled with just success, in order to have success, you have to learn from the low points.

Also, you have to enjoy the process.

If you watch a lot of Tom Brady's interviews when they ask him about his success and potential retirement he talks about how he just loves the process so much.

He loves the training and the work that goes into it just as much, if not more, then the actual big goal itself.

So...

I'll keep it brief today while I continue to grieve the Patriots loss, but just like anything else, remember, we can always learn from it :)

It doesn't always go as planned.

Success is never a straight line.

Enjoy the process.

1% Better.

Dedicated to Your Success,

Doug Spurling
