The Obstacle Is The Way

Each month the team and I read a book together.

I buy everyone a copy of the book, they have the month to read it, and we spend a portion of the last staff meeting of the month recapping what each person got out of it, and what they're going to change based on reading the book.

It's been a game changer for staff development.

I'm about halfway through this month's book, "The Obstacle Is The Way" by Ryan Holiday.

I'm impressed and had to share a quote with you from the chapter I read this morning.

“How we interpret the events in our lives, our perspective, is the framework for our forthcoming response—whether there will even be one or whether we’ll just lie there and take it. Where the head goes, the body follows. Perception precedes action. Right action follows the right perspective."

Woah!

We all have obstacles in our lives, and most of the time, we put them there in our mind, and we spend so much time worrying, stressing, and freaking out about them, rather than just putting one foot forward and taking action on them.

He asks his readers...

"Are you going to die as a result of this obstacle"

If the answer is no, it's time to buckle up, stop crying about it, and take some action to remedy the situation.

I've said this before, but it's worth mentioning this again...

We're a gym. We do fitnessy stuff. However, if you were to read any of these daily posts they all not only apply to fitness, but they apply to every other aspect of life.

That's why I love it so much.

So next time you think you have an obstacle in the way, is it really there, or did you just put in there in your head?

Change your perception about what you can do.

You can change your life.

You can eat better.

You can feel better about yourself.

You can change your relationships.

You can improve your family and financial life.

“The obstacle in the path becomes the path. Never forget, within every obstacle is an opportunity to improve our condition.”

Think progress, not perfection.

Get moving.

Take action.

1% Better!

I'll be back tomorrow to wrap up the week!

Dedicated to Your Success,

Doug Spurling

PS: We're in the final days of registration for our Strong(her) in Six Weeks Transformation Weight Loss Challenge. As of this morning, it looks like there are 4-5 spots left. We cap it to a manageable number because we're meeting with each person individually each week, so it's a lot. If you're looking to get back on track after the summer and really buckle down for the next six weeks, grab one of the few spots the remain. The kick-off seminar is next week, and the program starts 9/19. Click Here To Register!
