Look behind your TV.
What do you see?
I bet 90% of you (there's always that 10% OCD) see a bunch of tangled wires.
You have a wire going to the TV, the modem, the DVD player, the surround sound, you have more wires than you know what to do with.
What happens when you go to undo that mess?
You pull one wire and it causes a knot somewhere else in the wire.
It's all connected.
That's my perfect analogy for our lives.
We have all these aspects of life (wires), and it's a balancing act between all of them.
Typically, when you pull on one, another one is affected.
You have the family wire, the working wire, the nutrition wire, the workout wire, the sleep wire, the social wire, etc.
Life will always be a balance of what "wire" to work on at what time.
If you don't spend enough time on the working wire, you can't pay your bills.
If you spend too much time on the working wire, you don't see your family.
If you don't spend enough time on the workout and nutrition wire, you get out of shape.
If you spend too much time on those wires that may affect your social wire or your family wire.
Everyone's life is a series of tangled wires, and it's up to you to decide which one today you're going to try and untangle.
Maybe it's a little bit of both.
But remember, in order to say yes to something, you have to say no to something else.
In an ideal world, you're always working on each wire, trying to get one more knot out.
However, I don't have to tell you this, life is never ideal.
There may be a 3-month stretch where you really dial in on nutrition and fitness, and then you "jog" for a little while, just doing 2 workouts a week and eating healthy 80% of the time.
There may be a 5-day stretch where your social/family wire is on fire (vacation, etc), and then you ramp up your work wire.
It will always be a balancing act, and the people that can balance all the wires, because they're all important, will win.
