The other day I saw a friend post about how they've had great success running, and lost about 50lbs doing it.
Doesn't that sound phenomenal?
It certainly is!
Well, little do most people know, that person also strength trains a couple times a week, and makes smart nutrition choices. But...
What was more interesting...
The comments on the Facebook post about their success.
They're best summarized with this line...
"That's awesome! I'm going to have to start running to lose weight."
Now, I could be looking at it too deep, but there's something wrong with that thought process.
Because someone had success to do it one way, YOU have to go and do the exact same thing.
Now, this isn't a bash on running, or anything else.
This person could have written "I lost 50lbs doing Zumba", and I'm sure there would be comments about people needing to Zumba.
The important lesson is...
The reason why this person has had such good success...?
She loves what she does, she's super consistent and she works hard.
Her tools just happen to be running and strength training.
Ultimately, for the best fitness success, you need to do you.
You need to find something/somewhere that you look forward to doing.
Because sure she lost 50lbs running, but if you hate running, you'll never be consistent with it and you'll never see results.
Whether it's running, strength training, circuits, yoga, swimming, biking, pilates, boxing, or any of the other 1000+ "tools" available in fitness, you need to do you, do what makes you happy, do something you look forward to.
Then, and only then, will you stay consistent, dedicated, and accountable to your results.
That's when the magic happens.
Have a great weekend, and I'll be back on Monday with some more goodies :)
